Myofunctional Me Program

The Myofunctional Me program offers a new multifaceted approach anchored in cutting edge orthotropic, integrative, quantum & myofunctional principles in addition to artistic and energetic techniques that are centuries old, for optimizing your unique genetic expression. With over ten years of dental hygiene clinical experience in working with children, teenagers, adults, the elderly and special needs, you will receive treatment and knowledge that is unparalleled in its practice.

The four pillars of the Myofunctional Me program are: Holism, Integration, Quantum Energy, and Neuroplasticity, all in a developmental and multidisciplinary approach for facilitating facial growth guidance. The four pillars are the bedrock for the optimal neuromuscular retraining of the orofacial, craniofacial-respiratory and pharyngeal (airway) muscles to correct orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) and to encourage the correct development of the teeth, jaws, airway and craniospinal postures. The goal of this program is to achieve correct orofacial postures and motor patterns while chewing, breathing (in wakefulness/sleep/exercise), swallowing and speaking, while incorporating any needed reflex pattern integration. You will walk away with the tools and exercises to maintain life long results. Treatment is done in phases, and one’s length of treatment varies according to the individual’s therapeutic needs. Success is highly dependent on the patient’s commitment.

Treatment: The intensive group program is 9 weeks. A year long program is typically recommended to help create automaticity and longevity of the new learned motor functions and postures. This applies to anyone who has mouth breathed most of their life, who is in functional dental expansion, who needs a tethered oral tissue release(s), who has a prolonged pacifier or thumb sucking habit, who has multiple moderate to severe OMDs, or any individual who has endured permanent physical trauma to the orofacial and craniofacial-respiratory structures. All first-time assessments are $150 and will be $175 starting January 2024.

*This program may not be for everyone. Please read more to know if this is right for you or your child, as I work in partnership with the patient/parent and other providers in a multidisciplinary approach, treating the whole person, to achieve optimal results. Treatment is done remotely until further notice.

Breathing Re-education

This program is anchored in the Buteyko Breathing Method with a Coherent Quantum energy approach of all the universe being one. In it, we will train your body’s chemoreceptors’ sensitivity to carbon dioxide to calibrate to a normal level. We begin this by shifting the emotional and physical body into a coherent state and then we retrain the brain’s respiratory center (your brainstem) to correct dysfunctional breathing and to restore optimal metabolic and psychophysiological functions and states by repeating controlled hypoventilation exercises for optimizing your oxygen uptake. Correct breathing also provides correct development of the teeth, jaws, airway and craniospinal posture through myofunctional and orthotropic principles, and it is an alternative therapy to surgery and medication. Special needs, like hypertension, sleep apnea and ADHD, are commonly associated with untreated dysfunctional breathing, as how we breath affects both, our body’s cerebral and metabolic functions. NOTE: never stop taking any medication without authorization from your doctor.

Treatment: 60-70 days for individuals with hyperventilation syndrome or those who want to improve their athletic or vocal performance, and 90 days for patients who have been chronically breathing through their mouth for 6 months or more. You will receive the knowledge and tools to continue improving and maintaining optimal breathing for years to come after your training. Success is highly dependent on the patient’s commitment to change. Test your breathing right now. Appointments are approximately 60 mins. Starting from 3 years old with the ability to count or say their ABCs, children will need parental support and presence during appointments. All first-time assessments are complimentary.

Integrative Physiological Enhancement

This program features movements and motor patterns scientifically proven to improve test scores and enhance musical, artistic, athletic and professional performance. The specific movements are paired with complimentary oral postures for strengthening and further integrating the mouth-spine connection, operating by the laws of neurophysiology to improve and enhance one’s self acceptance, focus, confidence, verbal skills, social skills, expressive written/verbal language, trust in others, gross/fine motor skills, self protection, self regulation, curiosity, creativity, goal setting, motivation, by coordinating sensory input with motor movements for the full-being effect.

Treatment: This program is eight weeks long and it is for persons of all ages and cognitive abilities from infancy to advanced ages. Examples of treatments range from the colic infant, to the hyperactive toddler, to the anxious student who blanks during tests, to the stressed career professional, to the retired individual who wants to stay sharp in the mind and body or any individual who has endured physical or emotional trauma. This program is also for those who have suboptimal physical, visual or athletic coordination, those sensory or emotional hypersensitivities, hyperactivity, excessive aggression, anxiety, depression, learning difficulties, insomnia, dyslexia, exophoria, gastrointestinal disorders, physical disabilities, cerebral palsy, torticollis, autism spectrum disorder, hypermobility spectrum disorder and much more. All movements work for neuroatypical and neurotypical persons and can be done passively (to the individual) if one is wheelchair bound, or actively (done by the individual). If you have special needs or cannot physically self regulate, you will need a facilitator to help you as I guide the movements. Children will need parental support and presence during appointments. All first-time assessments are complimentary.

Appointments are remote and once a week. $800

Thumb/Finger Sucking Elimination

This program focuses on the neurophysiological loop between the mouth and the hand, bonding reflexes, bone growth stimulation and more. It provides the patient with the sensory input they need while gently blocking the sucking “incidents” using positive reinforcement, reflex integration, behavior modification exercises and myofunctional principles. Thumb sucking can delay social and emotional self regulation as well as contribute to dysfunctional breathing. Learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety and sleep apnea are often associated with thumb sucking, as thumb sucking puts the individual in a state of constant self soothing and self protection which leaves the brain with limited energy for learning, socializing, curiosity, coping, creativity and self expression. Also, the thumb/finger in question often alters the shape of the nasal sinuses, frequently leading to dental problems, upper airway restrictions, retained primary reflexes and orofacial myofunctional disorders. This program is also for anyone who has a nonnutritive oral habit including nail biting, profuse pacifier/bottle use, pen chewing, blanket facial rubbing/sucking or shirt chewing. As patients with a nonnutritive oral habit often present with other disorders, it is common for a patient to require more treatment beyond oral habit elimination.

Treatment: 30 Days for habit elimination, and you will continue it at home for 90 days for full habit extinction. I must emphasize that I DO NOT FORCE this program on children. I will only commence treatment if the child is ready and willing to try elimination of their habit after I have explained how their habit is changing the shape of their smile and face and how it is pushing their teeth in the wrong direction. This program requires total partnership between the child, their family and myself for success and life long results with out bulky or painful oral appliances. Treatment involves total family support, quality family time, art and crafts and prizes all supplied by the family under my guidance and coaching. It also may feature practices that may not be in your current family culture, such as targeted nutritional counseling and physical exercises. Success is highly dependent on the patient’s family support, as children are often the ones eliminating an oral habit. The child will need to be led through exercises and daily rituals by their parent or guardian. The same effort will be required of an adult patient, and this program does not need a special window of time to be implemented. I will teach you how to fold it into your current lifestyle to avoid waiting “for a better time”. However, I do not recommend seeking treatment during events like divorce, death in the family or moving house, as these events can be traumatic. All first-time assessments are complimentary.
