New Group Myofunctional Therapy Exercise Classes - $2000

Dear Patients,

We hope this finds you well!

You may have heard our clinical team mention "proper tongue posture", "nasal breathing" and "myofunctional therapy" during your recent visits with us. As the practice has grown and intensively trained in functional dentistry (which addresses the root cause of oral-dental problems), we have learned the utmost importance of applied myofunctional sciences and therapy (specific, effective exercises that improve breathing and orofacial postures) for our patients. The latest research has shown that myofunctional therapy can improve sleep breathing, and we have certainly seen it improve oral health in patients who have had the privilege of undergoing treatment already. You can learn more about myo here: https://aomtinfo.org/myofunctional-therapy.

Brooklyn Oak Dental care is proud to be hosting this niche treatment option since June 2022.

The steps to complete are:

1. Imaging in-office (20 mins)

2. Consultation at a later date on Zoom with Natalia

3. Enrollment.

The following entire packaged myo class is offered for $2000. The initial consultation is $350, and later when you enroll, the remaining amount of $1,650 will be due in full. There are no payment plans, and this is not covered by insurance. These 3 steps MUST be completed before the first class. This class is valued at over $4,500, and can thankfully be offered to our patients for less than half that price due to all of the treatment being in-house. Thus, we are so very excited to provide you with more affordable, accessible, safe and convenient myofunctional care and tethered oral tissue release. You do not have to change dentists, as this is muscular therapy and not dental work. As we will move forward as a group, please adhere to the schedule below.

ASSESSMENTS & CONSULTATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED week before the first class. THIS IS A TWO STEP PROCESS. PLEASE  BE AWARE OF YOUR TIMING & COMPLETE THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

The class will feature:

1. Individualized orofacial myofunctional therapy evaluation and consultation with Natalia Plaza, RDH, OMFT & Buteyko Breathing Method instructor

2. Nine orofacial myofunctional group exercise classes

3. A take-home exercise tool kit

4. Video instructions & PDF support for each class

5. Two photobiomodulation laser treatments to neurologically prepare the muscles for release by improving muscle function and loosening fascial tension.

6. CO2 laser tongue tie release, i.e. frenuloplasty (when necessary; please schedule asap after enrolling).

7. Hands-on orofacial stretches

8. Local red/infrared light therapy

The class features both virtual and in-person exercise classes followed by a brief lecture (60 mins/class). You will be expected to complete exercises 3x/day on your own outside of class times for the active 9 weeks. Independent exercise sessions can run between 10-20 minutes depending on one’s level of muscular control. Children and teenagers must be accompanied by a parent both in person and online classes during the 9 weeks to ensure accurate execution of the exercises at home.

Topics that will be covered in the lectures during the 9 week course include:

  • How tongue posture and movement affects craniofacial-respiratory growth and the entire body and being

  • Augmenting and restoring cranial movement

  • The importance of osteopathy
